Christian Cruise Latest News May 2017

Thanks for signing up to receive future news of our Christian Themed Cruises, and welcome to our latest update!

Having recently returned from our Easter Cruise to the Azores, we have been reflecting on the fact that it was certainly one of the best. Although the sun didn’t shine as much as we had hoped, we were all encouraged and delighted with the ministry of Cindy Kent, Colin Beevers and the amazing entertainment team including Tim Vine, John Archer, Sue Hodge, Keith `Paddington` Richards, katherine Mansi, Frank Williams and Dana. Many said it made their Easter very special, and a `home from home`.

I hope to be making an announcement regarding a Christian Cruise for 2018 soon, but in the meantime, be blessed and `keep looking up`!

Christian Cruise Latest News SEPTEMBER 2016

Thanks for signing up to receive future news of our Christian Themed Cruises, and welcome to our latest update!

Dear Cruise Family,

We have recently returned from our latest Christian Cruise aboard the new MV Magellan around the UK. Sadly, a bad weather front prevented us from our plans to visit Iona, but there was plenty of other activity and the sun came out soon enough in more ways than one. Eurovision star Dana sang in cabaret and then chatted about her faith amidst the struggles of life, Syd Little entertained us with an evening cabaret of his musical heroes and then talked about how the death of his son revitalised his faith, Ann Widdecombe fielded a lively `no holds barred` question and answer opportunity for passengers and talked about her strong beliefs. BBCTV`s Pam Rhodes presented her own Songs of Praise on board in celebration of her new book Saints & Sailors which was based on our Christian Cruises. Dave & Pat Bilbrough treated us to an afternoon concert and led us in some reflective worship whilst Sunday Services and a daily reflection were inspirationally presented by Very Rev Andrew McLellan. Our journey with the Celtic Saints was quite fascinating, and we must say a big thank you to all the passengers who joined us for what was a memorable cruise together.

Christian Cruise Latest News JUNE 2016

seatingHaving just arrived back from a weekend trial on the new ship Magellan, I am looking forward to our next Christian cruise aboard this larger ship, and found it to be very comfortable. Its roomy enough to have space but cosy enough to enjoy a chat with friends. The theatre is impressive and I know that Dana and Syd Little will enjoy singing with the ships orchestra, and offer us some excellent evening entertainment. Pam Rhodes will be presenting her Songs of Praise in the Magellan theatre too, joined by Dave Bilbrough who will also be presenting a special afternoon concert there.

theatreI am am very much looking forward to our Life Stories interviews when we get to hear about personal experiences, faith and inspirations. I just hope that Ann Widdecombe won`t ask me to take her to the dance floor!

We will be enjoying more of those wonderful Sunday services in the theatre, led by Very Rev Andrew Mclellan and Rev. Rosemary Taylor joins him for their regular `Saint or Sailor?` inspirational reflections which will be held in one of the cosy lounges.

shipIf you are joining us for this special cruise to celebrate Pam Rhodes new book, I will look forward to welcoming you aboard and I hope all the months of planning will enable you to rest and recharge on many different levels. Can we pray for good weather?
I have also been meeting with CMV who have agreed to another Christian Cruise next year, probably around Easter time. I will let you know details as soon as they are confirmed.

In the meantime, thank you again for your interest and support in our Christian cruises!

Christian Cruise Latest News MAY 2016

We had an excellent time on our Easter Cruise, and although the weather wasn’t always in our favour, it was a good excuse to enjoy some great fellowship and fun aboard the Astoria as we meandered our way around Scotland and Ireland. We even slotted in some extra events including a JukeBox Jam session in the late night bar featuring special guest TV actor and musician Al Meechen, as well as a hilarious `Celebrity Just A Minute`.

One of the passengers sent me the following email which I think sums it up really well:

Just had to write to say Thank You.  We really enjoyed spending Holy Week with all of you on the cruise.   A pity about the weather…but the Christian services and fellowship more than made up for it.  It was a truly memorable Easter.  So please pass on my thanks to everyone involved. Ann Reynolds.

Here are some pictures from the cruise with Cannon Rodney Matthews and our Christian Guest Performers, Yazz, ELO`s Dave & Mandy Scott-Morgan, Tommy Cannon, Pam Rhodes and Piano a Deux, with Katherine Mansi and myself on our knees!

Thanks for signing up to receive future news of our Christian Themed Cruises, and welcome to our latest update!

image009Thank you to all those who were part of the recent Easter Christian Cruise to the Azores. It was certainly one of the most successful with passengers commenting on; “Dana`s amazing concerts”; “Tony Vino`s very funny Celebrity Just A Minute”; “Pam Rhodes uplifting Songs of Praise featuring passengers stories and Dads Army`s Frank Williams hilarious evenings.”

A last minute addition was Electric Light Orchestra star David Scott-Morgan with his wife Mandy, who gave us an evening of their million selling hits along with a fascinating Life Stories Interview about work and faith in the world of pop. They also helped us in our Easter worship, as did Dana`s MD Gerry, his son Robert, passenger Bernard and the ships orchestra.

unnamedOver 130 passengers joined us for the first Christian Themed welcome meeting in the Calypso Show lounge, and the main Easter services had over 200 and the Songs of Praise played to a packed theatre of over 300. One passenger who was not on the Themed part of the cruise told me he was an atheist but was enjoying the fantastic atmosphere on board.

Many passengers said that they found Very Rev Andrew McLelland`s daily reflections “…very, very inspiring, and Rev Pam Clark`s Communion Services were really moving.” Rev Andrew organised Easter Morning visits to local churches, always so encouraging to meet local Christians, and it was wonderful to be able to use the beautiful, but tiny chapel on board ship for one of the more intimate services, as it hadn’t been used for some time. Rev Andrew and Rev Pam were also able to meet pastorally to chat and pray in private with individuals. Something I know was very much appreciated for several passengers facing difficult times back home.

At the farewell meeting I said a big thank you to Cruise & Maritime Voyages who had shown their belief and support in hosting the Christian cruise once again, and to the Captain and his crew who had looked after us during our two week adventure together across the waves.

I will be posting more pics on our Gallery Page of the Christian-Cruises.co.uk web site, including any that you would like to send me which I will try and squeeze in!

I hope to have news of a further Christian Cruise for 2016 soon.

In the meantime, may you experience the words of this special prayer that we used during our cruise:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Amen.

Christian Cruise Latest News July 2014

Welcome to our latest update!

Having recently returned from the British Isles Discovery Cruise in May 2014 many were saying it was one of the most successful Christian Cruises so far. Even the passengers who were not part of the Christian programme of events enjoyed themselves. “I`m not a Christian,” said one such passenger to me. “I don’t go to church, and I’m not part of your faith themed cruise, but I just want to say thank you to all the christians on board for making it one of my most enjoyable cruises ever!”

Many passengers who had not signed up for the Christian part of the cruise took the trouble to write in to the cruise company asking when they were going to do more cruises like that one.

From a spiritual point of view the cruise was also a great success. Very Rev Andrew McLellan and his wife Irene provided us with some touching moments during his talks and Bible Studies and Holy Communion which was attended by so many that it had to be held in the main theatre. This was also the venue for the wonderful concerts and first class entertainment given by Barbara Dickson, the hilarious John Archer and Dads Army`s Frank Williams. Everyone was thrilled as Tim Vine made a surprise star guest appearance when he flew into Dublin and we smuggled him aboard. All the performers were interviewed about their life, career and Christian faith in my `Life Stories` slots and audiences from all backgrounds were inspired.

Pam Rhodes Songs of Praise was once again a usual highlight on the cruise as passengers shared their stories and the ship rocked to the sound of How Great Thou Art!

Please let your family and church friends know about our Christian Cruises UK. We do want to increase the opportunities of working alongside commercial shipping companies whilst offering a Christian Theme which is genuinely inspirational.

I do hope that you can join us soon.

Chris Gidney
